Having being on a spiritual journey since the early 1990's, I thought I had probably read most of the books that would impact my life in a profound way (ego speaking!). I had got to a point where I thought, "well, I obviously need to start practicing this stuff, rather than just keep reading about it", so that it was I did. My daily practice consisted of meditation, gratitude exercises, and inner enquiry whenever I was triggered. ( I still got triggered many times though) I did my Mind Calm Meditation training and various hypnotherapy trainings, all with the aim to help others (and myself) actually practice what they learn. Until.........
By way of synchronicity I received a gift of the book, "The Untethered Soul" by Michael Singer. I was in for a treat! He writes with such simplicity yet so profoundly that this book just hit the mark. He explains so elegantly how we are not our thoughts, emotions or beliefs. We are the observer of these. And that Observer part of us, our real spiritual identity, is always at peace no matter what is going on in the world around us. It allows life to pass through us so we experience each and every event in the present moment, without being triggered by past events.
The key to doing this is letting go, not hanging on to stuff, not resisting stuff. But how do we do this? Sometimes there are experiences we've had that get in the way of doing this. Yes, with practice and persistence, we will eventually get there, but I find that by clearing the beliefs, trauma and so on that some past events have caused, creates a quicker route to achieving this ability to let go in every moment.
This is where some of my specific modalities help: Mind Detox to clear the root cause and reframe old events that cause us to be sensitive to certain triggers. Inner Child Healing and Golden Thread to heal that part of us (usually the younger you) that was hurt by some events/people and Calm Cure to become at peace with life, just the way it is, letting go of resistance. It is the resistance to life that causes struggle.
