NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

Developed by Richard Bandler and Joh Grinder in the 1970’s NLP is modelled on the works of 3 amazing therapists – Fritz Perls (Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (Family Therapy) and Milton H. Erickson (Hypnotherapy). NLP works on the premise that everyone has all the resources they need to make positive changes in their lives. It is used in many areas like sport, sales, business, therapy and education and it makes a powerful combination with Hypnotherapy. Known as “the new psychology of personal excellence” it provides a set of remarkable techniques and tools assisting one to achieve levels of excellence and transformation, create lasting change, enhance communication and build rapport with anyone.

Each and every one of us has the resources we need to succeed and to achieve our desired outcomes, there are no unresourceful people – only unresourceful states. Everyone is doing the best they can with the resources they have available and the present behaviour is the best choice they have available in any given moment.

Every behaviour is motivated by a positive intent. For example, a smoker may be looking for time-out and smoking is the perfect way for him or her to achieve that – at the moment! So yes, all behaviour has a positive intent, we just need to source a healthy behaviour to achieve the same outcome.

“Failure is merely feedback, and feedback is essential to helping us achieve our goals.”

What does Neuro Linguistic Programming actually mean?

  • Neuro refers to thought processes, and how our senses interpret our experiences into thoughts.

  • Linguistic examines language structure and how we communicate with ourselves and others.

  • Programming addresses patterns and sequences of actions, our unconscious programs - so in a nutshell NLP is about thoughts, words and actions.

PSYCH-K

Created by Rob Williams, Psych -K is another tool to assist us to change unhelpful beliefs and install new positive and empowering beliefs. In his own words this is Rob’s definition of Psych -K…

“Psych-K is a user friendly way to rewrite the software of your minds in order to change the printout of your life”

It’s a simple and direct way to change self-limiting belief at the subconscious level of the mind, where all human behaviour, both constructive and destructive, originates.

Our beliefs impact all areas of our lives for example moods, relationships, job/sport performance, self-esteem, physical health and even your spiritual outlook.

Psych-K uses “Balances” – a process designed to create a balanced identification with both hemispheres of the brain. This “whole brain state” may help with reprogramming the mind with new positive, helpful beliefs, reducing unwanted stress and helping you to access your full potential in meeting life’s challenges.

"True healing is a partnership, a do with process, rather than a do to process. Therefore Psych-K is done with someone, not to them or on them."

Psych-K is available alongside the other techniques I use adding to the successful outcome you desire.

MINDSCAPING

Mindscaping is the creation of Canadian Hypnotist Mike Mandel, and has it’s roots in Time Line Therapy ™; Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP Submodality shifts; The Cube System of personality typing and Jungian Symbolism and Archetype theory.

MINDSCAPING accesses the client’s unconscious mind, providing a simple, but incredibly powerful methodology for both personal insight and rapid change regardless of the client’s problem. An added bonus is the practitioner doesn’t even need to know what the problem is, so for those clients wish not to discuss the details of their problem it’s the ultimate tool for change work.

It is great for remedial or generative change work and can be used for

de-traumatisation to sports performance and everything in between! Changes continue to resonate and produce positive shifts for days after the session has ended. The shifts tend to be deep and long lasting.

Body Calm

Body Calm is a system of self healing and includes a meditation technique that stimulates the relaxation response which in turn reduces stress and allows the body to come back into harmony so it can heal, since that is what our bodies are designed to do, given the right environment! (meaning physical, mental and emotional environment).

Body Calm includes the philosophy that health is more than the absence of dis-ease and that rather, it is a state of holistic harmony. We all know that stress is a major cause of dis-ease, but what causes stress? Stress is still a symptom, and it is the conflict between what your mind wants and what your higher self knows you need that causes the stress.

Body Calm also has a directory of common physical conditions / ailments and the possible mind based cause of each. By asking relevant questions one can find out what the ultimate cause of your condition might be. For example if  you have arthritis, some useful questions to ask yourself would be: Do I have very fixed ideas about things? Where in my life am I giving out without getting back what I need? Do I have any unresolved childhood rejections? Am I unhappy with my life but not doing anything to improve it?

These are just a few examples of the 'digging deeper" we would do in a session, and from there I would show you some simple exercises to help clear any baggage and get peace with your body, and an easy to learn meditation technique to reduce stress and overthinking and a way to heal the conflict you might have in your life.

Most often 4 sessions will be required to encompass the entire Body Calm method. Sometimes I will take bits of it and combine it with the other therapies I do for a unique, tailor made session.
